About Me
Hi! My name is Kate Adams. I have been a Licensed Massage Therapist
since 1998 and I am a member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage
Professionals and the International Association of Healthcare Practitioners.
I graduated with 529 hours and have taken several continuing education
courses to help broaden my knowledge base. I also have been a Licensed
Physical Therapy Assistant since 1981, and after the occurrence of
many changes in the healthcare field, and some soul searching, I decided
to become a Licensed Massage Therapist. I have found massage therapy
to be a very enjoyable and satisfying career change.
My Massage Philosophy
It is my belief that each person is an individual, with different
boundaries for touch, which may vary from session to session. I
do not promote the "no pain, no gain" philosophy, as I
have found that light touch in some individuals can illicit the
same response, as deep work does for others. I encourage my clients
to keep me apprised of their touch tolerance throughout the massage
session, so that I can adjust my pressure accordingly. This is something
that I can usually sense before it's expressed, but I want my clients
to feel comfortable expressing what they want from their massage
session, instead of a therapist-driven massage. I utilize many different
techniques,(see home page), which allows me to adjust accordingly
to each individual response. If someone is not responding to any
of my sessions, or may need to resolve other issues in order to
have a better recovery, I have no problem with referring them to
someone else.
My Office
Come and relax in this serene location, while unwinding to the sound of running water and soft music, allowing your troubles to melt away!
My office is located in the Shon Tay Business Complex in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
We are conveniently located close to the I-5 corridor, and are approximately
15 minutes from downtown Portland. Currently the complex provides
other healthcare practioners to serve you. Many restaurants are also located within
close proximity, which will make it convenient for you to stop for lunch or dinner
after your massage!
